I hope this website teaches children that our human brains have evolved a considerable amount within the last 100,000 years. Before that, there was at least a 2 million year build up to reach that point. So needless to say, it would be pretty foolish for one to idly sit by and waste something that has been worked on for so long.

Interesting take, James. I wouldn't rule out the posibility that some students are starting their day with a fresh can of Orange Crush. They say it give them all the nutrients they needs to be successful in a day...

I sympathize with your problem. This is the first time in 10 years I'm not teaching a core French course and I, too, have struggled with getting kids to use online dictionaries appropriately. They never seem to understand how easily I can spot their use of an online dictionary when it translates the English into tenses they don't even know how to use. I wish I had a solution for you.

Just wondering, but couldn't ecrasure de orange be Orange Crush instead of orange juice?

Thank you for the kind words! I'll keep the blogosphere posted in regards to the letter of interest. Integrating more video and photo content on my blog has been a goal of mine for quite some time. Photo content hasn't been so difficult however the video content is the opposite. Maybe now that I have bought a license for Jing Pro this will change...

Interesting proposal, Hali. Does using an online translator constitute plagiarism?

Thanks for the suggested link. I will add it to my resource list for the students.

What was most frustrating for me was spending the time with the students building correct language structures and helping them find ways to express themselves in French only to have them jump that step in their project to be able to complete sooner or with less pain. I did build in some conferencing time with students to look over their work prior to the hand-in date. Maybe I will need to increase the amount of allocated time for conferencing prior to the final copy.

Thanks for the great comments, link, and advice!
